01 — Years 1 and 2
VIII PALO offers admission to the preDP classes. The preDP classes are the first and second year of secondary school, in which some subjects are taught bilingually in Polish and English by teachers working in the International Baccalaureate programme. Admissions to the preIB classes start in October of the school year preceding the start of studies.
Admission to the preIB class is based on:
• the candidate’s grades at the end of year 7, year 8 or year 1 of secondary school;
• an interview with the candidate and their parents or legal guardians;
• an English language examination;
The required grade average is at least 4.5 at the end of year 7 or year 8. Grades in music, art, design and technology, physical education and religion or ethics are not included in the calculation. A conduct grade of at least “good” is also required. For admission to preDP year 2, the candidate’s results from year 1 of secondary school are taken into account.
The interview is held with the IB DP Coordinator, Alicja Rozpędzka, or the Deputy DP Coordinator, Mateusz Jabłoński. The candidate and their parent(s) can arrange the meeting by phone (12 633 96 57) or by e-mail (alicja.rozpedzka@viiipalo.edu.pl). The purpose of the meeting is to get to know the candidate and their aptitude for the programme.
Before the meeting we ask you to send by e-mail (sekretariat@pack.edu.pl) or deliver to the school office the application form and the required documents (for example as scans).
02 — Year 3
VIII PALO also offers admission directly to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP), which begins in year 3 of secondary school.
Admissions to the DP1 class run on an ongoing basis and are based on:
• grades from secondary school reports / annual reports;
• an interview.
Its aim is to inform the parents and the candidate about how the programme works.
Before the meeting we ask you to send by e-mail or deliver to the school office the application form and the documents listed in the Admissions Regulations (for example as scans).
The interview is not an examination; its purpose is to get to know the candidate and their chances of success in the IB DP. We therefore recommend that, before the meeting, the candidate and their parents read the International Baccalaureate programme documents: Academic Integrity and the Learner Profile (available together with other documents in the DOCUMENTS section). The requirements set out in those documents will also be discussed during the interview.
If necessary, the candidate may be asked to take a qualifying examination in English — particularly if they have never been taught in English before.
The DP subjects currently offered by VIII PALO can be found in the SCHOOL OFFER section.
